I dropped the outside source count to 3 because I saw some people struggling with this. I know most of you will have at least 6 items on your citation page. Be sure to cite any text that you allude to in your title and your intro topic if applicable. But that isn't part of the minimum 3 research sources. <-- Added 5/24 at 9:32am

"I CARE" PROJECT
EXAMPLE FROM CLASS -- CLICK HERE -- "Let's Open Our Eyes to Better Options" pp. 48-52
This article does not contain links, your paper should. This paper has columns, your paper should not.
This paper is quite lengthy. Yours must consist of only 700 words minimum.
DO NOT EXPECT TO GET ALL OF THIS DONE IN CLASS. PLAN TIME FOR HOMEWORK.
THERE ARE NO EXTRA DAYS LEFT TO GET CAUGHT UP. DON'T FALL BEHIND.
Step 1 -- Topic
- What do you want people to do? It has to be actionable, not just a change of mind.
- Collect 5+ sources: quotes, short videos, images, etc. (with their URLs) for paper and poster.
Step 2 -- Plan
- Title your subtopics and very briefly describe each.
- Below each subtopic, list the quotes, video clips, and/or images you plan to use in that section.
- Organize subtopics as you might present them. Plan can be changed as needed.
Step 3 -- RD -- at least 500 words
- Informal pronoun use is OK. Don't get carried away.
- Including some brief personal anecdotes could be helpful.
- Present your arguments.
- Present and respond to a opposing views.
- Begin your paper in an engaging way. Bullet point some questions or statements. No traditional intro required.
- Lead with your point OR lead to it. Either way, it should be crystal clear by the end of the paper.
- At the end, tell people what you want them to do. This could be a reiteration of points you've already made.
- You can box up your final request or present it in some creative way.
- Embed links to video. Fully describe video for those uninterested in viewing.
- The paper will be minimum 700 words. Length will depend upon images and creative formatting.
- Single space, even the heading. No paragraph indents. Instead, double space between paragraphs.
Step 4 -- Full RD draft, including works cited page
Prepare for a peer review. You may begin working on your poster if your paper is finished. Take paper home if you wish but do not take tools that others will need. If you need something that isn't here, aske the sub to allow you to go to the supply closet to pick up what you need. Ask the secretary to help you. Print colored images in the library (25 cents each).
Due Thurs., June 2 by 6am

Reminder: Quotes are all highlighted (even in the FD). Use light colors and the play gets yellow.
Abbreviations: the play (TTS) and the movies (Shrew) and (Things).
Set abbreviations up early. When you use the abbreviation, drop the parenthesis.
When writing this essay, start with the working thesis and complete all the body paragraphs.
Then write the intro, the conclusion and the title -- In that order.
You want to write the body paragraphs first because you might get ideas for an intro topic while doing so.
