AP LIT TESTING
WEST HIGH SCHOOL AP EXAM ORDERING INFORMATION (May 2022)
West is pleased to offer 20 different AP exams in 2022. The process for ordering AP exams is complicated, so please read all instructions carefully. All ordering and payments will be made through the Total Registration website. And students need to join the appropriate section on the AP Classroom website. If video tutorials would be helpful to you, CLICK HERE for an explanation of details on this page, and HERE for a guide through what the website looks like when registering online.
Cost: $100 per exam

Step 1: Register and Pay online (through Total Registration) -- This will take about 15 minutes.
Regular Online Registration: Monday Sept. 27, 2021 to Monday Oct. 11, 2021.
  • Go online to www.TotalRegistration.net/AP/053521 to register and pay for every AP test you will be taking.
  • You will make a Total Registration account for this process. If you already have a TR account from last year, use that account.
  • Register with your legal name. Also, check your order carefully as several tests have similar names.
  • Print and keep the PDF on the confirmation page as your receipt.
  • There are two options for payment.
Option 1: Pay by Credit/Debit Card (Visa or MasterCard) on the Total Registration website
Option 2: Mail check and Total Registration Payment Stub to:

Total Registration
     LLC /
PO Box 398
     Eldorado Springs, CO 80025
  • Put your reference number on the memo line of the check.
  • Direct questions regarding payments to: [email protected]
  • All unpaid registrations will be canceled on Monday, November 1st.
  • During the fourth week of October, check the verification form in your AP class to see that you are listed for the tests you purchased. If there is a problem, contact the GATE Coordinator right away.
  • Non-WHS students will need to email the GATE Coordinator with their information first to see if we have availability for outside test-takers. Once they set up the registration online, they will be put on hold to ensure that we are able to accommodate all WHS students first.

Step 2: Join your class section on AP Classroom
AP Classroom: To complete the ordering process, students must be enrolled in AP Classroom. AP Teachers gave students the “join codes” to join their online classes during the first week of school. The codes will also be displayed on the Total Registration website once you finish registering. Follow these instructions if you need help. When you join a class on AP Classroom, the default setting shows that you will take the test (which may not be accurate). However, by Oct 18th, your AP Classroom account will correctly reflect your registration status. If you see that you are not registered to take the test, that means you didn’t register and pay through Total Registration.

If you are registering for an AP exam and you are NOT taking the class at WHS, you still need to join AP Classroom. Your registration will be called “exam only." You  will receive  a join code from the Total Registration website at the end of the process. If the code says TBD, please email Mr. Hettinger for the correct code.

Late Online Registration: After Monday Oct. 11th, you can still register for the AP exam, but you will be charged a $10 late fee for each exam. To register, follow the same steps at the top of this form. Online registration shuts down completely at midnight on Sunday, Oct. 31st. At this point, “Late In-Person Registration” is still possible, but there will be a $40 late fee. You and a parent will have to meet with Mr. Hettinger in person or over Zoom to register.

Fee Waivers & Financial Assistance: If you qualify for Free or Reduced Lunch, you can register for the exam at a reduced fee. Please make sure your enrollment in the program is current; it must be updated annually. Directions to apply for the Free or Reduced Lunch program can be found here. These students will register for their AP exam but not pay right away. Once it is confirmed that you are in the program (allow 2 school days for confirmation), you will be prompted to pay for your exam with a reduced fee. So, don’t forget to go back to the Total Registration website after a few days to pay your balance.

If you do NOT qualify for the Free or Reduced Lunch program but want to request financial assistance, you can complete a Financial Assistance Application and submit the completed application by Wed., Oct. 6th. The AP Committee will review all applications and e-mail approvals/denials by Oct. 8th, so you can complete your payment through the Total Registration website.

Registration Terms (seen on the Total Registration website):
  • Financial Assistance -- Select “yes” if you need financial assistance but don’t qualify for Free and Reduced Lunches. (See section above).
  • Free and Reduced Lunch -- Select “yes” if you are enrolled in the Free and Reduced Lunch program through the district this year.
  • Accommodations -- Select “yes” if you receive testing accommodations through an IEP or 504 plan.
  • Students not in an AP Class: You are not required to be enrolled in an AP class at West to take the exam. Follow the same directions for registration, but on AP Classroom, you will join the class as “exam only."

Test Cancellation: To get the full refund, you must cancel by Wednesday, Nov. 10, 2021. Students can cancel and receive a partial refund of $60 per exam up until April 18th. All cancellations must be submitted prior to Monday April 18th.

Questions and Communication: See Mr. Hettinger in Room 3304 or his office in the counseling hallway.
