SUMMER READING QUESTIONS

!. A student email to ask about the structure of the first vocabulary assessment. Here is my answer:

The first vocabulary test will be about 20 to 25 words. You will have a word bank and definitions. It will be matching. You do not need to memorize parts of speech. There will be no spelling component.

The point of our vocabulary work is to enhance your vocabulary in general. To that end, parts of speech are not important as long as you can use the words correctly. Spelling isn't that important because you will have spell check in most situations where you will need to use an impressive vocabulary. For the AP test, those who evaluate the tests don't grade you down for misspelling complicated words. If you make silly mistakes regarding words like there and their or its and it's, that would hurt your grade.
