For Period 3 -- Due Thurs., June 3 by 7am
For Period 4 -- Due Fri., June 4 by 7am
WEEK 37
Thursday and Friday / May 27 and 28
Discuss Grammar Sentences 12
The Pet Peeve or Lesson paper FD will be due some time next week.
Write about a time you learned a lesson or about a pet peeve. The paper does not have to be sad or dramatic. Sometimes, pet peeves are funny. Enjoy your rant! Sometimes, the lessons we learn come from hilarious situations. You may use informal pronouns, but be careful not to over do it. Add a couple of sources, as you saw in the examples. I am not looking for a traditional essay structure, but I'm also fine with that. Remember that I started my piece with four questions. You do not need to include an essay intro or thesis. You can have subtopic headings or include bullet points. I'm completely open to suggestion. I do want an MLA heading, header, and works cited page. This paper will be 2-3 pages (longer if need be). Double-space and use MLA format for the set-up.
Have fun with this assignment. It's time to be creative!

Review the Manson story.
Respond to these True/False statements.
T F 1. Parents should defend their children.
T F 2. Rudeness should be called out.
T F 3. Bullying is wrong.
T F 4. It's good to see other points of view.
Dead Poets Society -- click here.
The courtyard scene -- click here.
The Angry Dad video -- click here.
The article -- click here.
Another example -- click here.
Write a paper (not an essay necessarily) about a pet peeve or a time you learned a lesson. Include at least two outside sources from which you will quote in the paper. You may use informal pronouns, especially in a personal story, but do so sparingly. A lesson you learned does not have to be sad. Sometimes lessons come from funny situations.
I'm looking for double spaced 2-3 pages of writing. More is OK if you find it necessary in order to say all of what you need to say. I'm not grading this on length. You may deviate from paragraph structures if necessary. That means you can have subtopic headings and offer lists of questions as I did in my piece. Expect to do a peer review.
Let me know if you have any questions.
You will have next class to work on this paper after we go over GS 12.

Trade essays. Evaluate someone's essay. Return the evaluation form you filled out, with some added commentary: explain your assessment and offer some suggestions. Then write a 1-paragraph reflection. Reveal the score your peer gave your essay and the focus of the assessment. Add what you learned and how that will impact your next essay. You may also disagree with the assessment. Please let me know if anyone is being unkind. This rarely happens but if someone needs a little gentle coaching as to tone, I need to hear about it.
